and javelins increase your smithing skill very fast. I second this, weirdly for some reason javelins level you up like crazy and you can farm a lot of recipe this way, 2-h polearms and 2-h swords also give huge amount of xp but i think javelins are better

You can still make a decent amount of coin smithing, but nothing like it used to be. You're looking at 2 year old videos.
